Nasdaq-listed Critical Metals has appointed new members to the project management and technical team of its flagship Tanbreez rare-earths project in southern Greenland.

The expanded project delivery team brings together specialists in mining, processing, engineering, logistics and geology with decades of experience in delivering large-scale resources projects globally, reports the company.

“These recent appointments, together with the existing Tanbreez team led by Greg Barnes, which has more than 60 years of combined operational experience in Greenland, position the company to progress the Tanbreez project in a disciplined and efficient manner," said chairperson Tony Sage.

The new team has been working with Danish engineering firm NIRAS and key stakeholders across Greenland, the US, the UAE and Europe, and is currently progressing final engineering and design for both short- and long-lead items.

Subject to regulatory approvals from the Greenland government, construction activities related to the Tanbreez pilot plant facility are under way, with preparations in place to engage local contractors.

The strengthened project delivery group is led by senior project manager Mike Begley, who brings more than 40 years of experience across project studies, design and construction. He has been supporting the project as a consultant for the past six months.

Group process and engineering manager Tony Halliday, a chemical and process engineer with more than 35 years’ experience, will oversee plant design and commissioning. Halliday previously played a key role in the Tianqi lithium hydroxide project in Australia.

Project office manager Laura Brady brings more than two decades of experience in mining, construction and engineering governance, while project delivery manager Mo Mansour contributes expertise in EPCM execution and technical assurance.

The technical team also includes Emeritus Professor Tony Tang as independent metallurgical and process consultant, process lead Mike Wort, senior metallurgist and pilot plant manager Paul Rundel, and process technician Sara Kambarji.

Geological leadership is provided by chief technical geologist Col Lloyd, geological research lead Tanya Jude Eton and consultant chief geologist Sara Ivory, supported by IT adviser Alix Marengo.
